OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE

We seek to honor God and to strengthen our faith in Him as we seek to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We desire authentic faith and worship, to serve God, to share our faith in our community, and to grow in grace with the knowledge of Jesus. We strive to love and care for each other, bearing one another’s burdens and lifting them up in prayer.

Grace Coastal Church, a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), is a gospel-driven, community-based church striving to reach Okatie and the surrounding neighborhoods where our members live, work, study, and play, with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are committed to serving God and seeking life transformation through:

Worship. To honor God with holy, accessible worship with a focus on the preaching of the word.

Evangelism. To love one another as a community of God’s people, that Christ might be formed in us.

Discipleship. To bear witness to the good news of Jesus’ resurrection both in word and deed.

Fellowship. To commune with and to serve one another across generations as believers in love, friendship, and service, as Christ dwells in each of us.

Prayer. To praise and adore God, to seek His will, and to lift one another up in constant prayer.

We seek to strengthen the foundations of faith in the Lowcountry community through:

• Making disciples, baptizing and teaching Jesus’s commands

- Matthew 28:18

• Seeking repentance and forgiveness of sins

- Luke 24:44-49

• Evangelism by bearing witness to the testimony of Jesus

- Acts 1:8

• Performing deeds in service to the message of Jesus

- Acts 20:21

• Seeking forgiveness, reconciliation, and discipleship in the body of Christ

-II Corinthians 4:5-6

WHAT IS A PCA CHURCH? THE PCA IS AN EVANGELICAL AND REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN DENOMINATION.

  • By Evangelical, we mean that we emphasize the gospel (good news of salvation) through faith in Jesus Christ, as well as affirming other orthodox Christian doctrines and holding to the inerrancy of Scripture.

  • By Reformed, we mean that we are connected to the teachings of the historic church and the doctrinal beliefs recovered by the Reformation. These doctrinal beliefs are expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. All officers (elders and deacons) of the Presbyterian Church in America must personally subscribe to and uphold the teachings of the Westminster Confession of Faith.

  • By Presbyterian, we describe our representative form of church government. Local churches are governed by a “Session” of “presbyters” (elders), elected by the members of the congregation. Representatives of local churches within a geographical area compose a “presbytery.” Representatives of presbyteries meet annually at “General Assembly.” Thus, through the combined efforts and resources of all of the churches, we are enabled to advance God’s Kingdom much more effectively. The Committees and Agencies of the PCA help lead this Kingdom work.

OUR VISION

…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
